The Novosibirsk Regional Special Library for the Blind and Visually Impaired (NRSL) has participated and is participating in a number of Federal and Regional Programs:

The key directions of works, fulfilled within the framework of these Programs, are::
  • Creation of the base network for providing information on problems of rehabilitation and social integration of people with various kinds of disabilities
  • Creation of a Methodological Consulting Center on typhlotechnologies and typhlocomputer technologies and training blind and visually impaired schoolchildren, students and specialists on its base.
  • Creation of a system of additional education in the field of foreign languages for people with severe visual impairments.
  • Production and dissemination of audio books and dubbed video materials on problems of rehabilitation of people with disabilities.
  • Creation of a rent reserve stock of technical aids for reading talking books, preventative maintenance and repair of equipment, consultative assistance.
  • Creation of accessible information environment, dissemination and introduction of spatial speech systems for orientation of the blind and visually impaired.
  • Development of а Regional Special Polygraphy Center for production of braille, large print materials, and relief-graphical aids and diagrams.
