Mission

NRSL promotes progress of people with various kinds of disabilities on the basis of providing conditions for their free access to information, education and values of culture; forms tolerant attitude in the society to the citizens excluded from social life due to various reasons.

Fulfilling the mission, the Library:

• creates collections of home and foreign editions in alternative and traditional formats;
• forms information resources on problems of rehabilitation and social integration of people with various kinds of disabilities;
• collaborates with Russian and foreign libraries, information and rehabilitation centers;
• promotes mastering and dissemination of adaptive aids and technologies for people with severe visual impairments;
• participates in development and realization of regional, federal, international cultural and social programs;
• publishes, promotes production and dissemination of documents in alternative formats, materials on problems of rehabilitation and independent living of disabled citizens;
• promotes the principles of tolerant behavior into public consciousness through exhibition activity, appearances in mass media and social advertising.
